OPENINVITE POLICIES
Privacy policy
OpenInvite helps you make invitation websites and share them with your guests. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Who we are
OpenInvite is operated by Rishabh Kumar, 1865, Phase 5, Sector 59, Mohali, Punjab 160059, India (“we”, “us”). For any privacy question, write to support@openinvite.in.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address and/or phone number when you sign in. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider; we never see your password.
- Your invitation: the names, wording, event dates, venues, map links, family details, stories, photos and music choice you add, and your design and display settings.
- Your guests’ replies: the household name, attendance for each event and any wishes a guest chooses to leave (with their consent). We do not ask guests to create an account.
- Payments: order amounts, plan, status and payment references. Card, UPI and bank details are entered with our payment provider and never reach us.
- Technical data: limited logs (time, page type, error codes) to keep the service secure and working. Invitation content is not written to these logs.
Why we use it
- To create, save, preview and publish your invitation website.
- To show your invitation to people who have its link (and PIN, if you set one), and to collect their replies for you.
- To process payments, renewals and refunds.
- To provide support, prevent abuse and keep the service secure.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use your invitation content to train AI models.
Who can see your invitation
Your draft is private to you. Once published, anyone with the guest link can view it during the hosting period, unless you protect it with a PIN. Published invitations are not listed in search engines. Guests may still take screenshots or forward the link, which we cannot control.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to run OpenInvite, only for the purposes above: a cloud hosting and database provider, a sign-in provider, a payment processor and a media storage provider for photos and music. When a guest opens directions or adds an event to their own calendar, the relevant third-party service receives that request directly. Data may be processed outside India by these providers under their own safeguards.
On our public website pages and while you create and publish an invitation, we may use an analytics service to count visits and understand which pages help people. It uses cookies and records pages viewed, device and approximate location, never your invitation details or guest replies. It is never used on the invitation pages your guests open. You can block it with your browser's privacy settings.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and invitations until you ask us to delete them. Published invitations stop being visible to guests when their hosting period ends. Payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require, even after other data is deleted.
Your rights and choices
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct or update your details (most can be edited directly).
- Ask us to delete your account, invitations, photos and guest replies.
- Withdraw consent; this may stop parts of the service working.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf.
- Raise a grievance with us, and then with the Data Protection Board of India.
Email support@openinvite.in from the address linked to your account. We respond within the time required by law.
Children
OpenInvite is for adults. If an invitation includes a child’s name or photo (for example a birthday), it must be added by a parent or guardian, who consents to its use for that invitation.
Security
We use encrypted connections, access controls, isolated invitation pages and audited admin tools. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify you and the authorities of a personal data breach as the law requires.
